Montecito Farm
Organic Farm

We are not yet "certified" organic, but Montecito has been an organic farm for the last ten years (since 1991). Prior to that, the land had not been farmed for at least ten years. We do not use any insecticides, herbicides, or artificial fertilizers to grow our produce. We do not give our animals hormones or other drugs, or feed them anything except alfalfa, natural feed grains (such as corn), and our own pasture land. We plan to get ourselves certified organic real soon, and when we do we will update this site, so check back with us.

Currently, we sell our organic vegetables, fruits, and herbs at local farmers markets and to local grocers and restaurants. If you wish to order produce from Montecito Farm, click on the "Contact Us" link below. If we don't have what you are looking for, we will grow it for you. We have a greenhouse, so we have many things available year-round. In addition to the fresh produce, we also sell our farm-fresh eggs (ungraded), beef and lamb (not USDA inspected). If there is enough interest in these products, we will see what it takes to get certified, graded and inspected.

Lastly, for other organic farmers and gardeners, we have excellent compost and sheep manure available for sale. Sheep manure is low in nitrogen and can be applied directly to gardens without burning the plants, or it can be worked into the soil. Our compost is made from a careful combination of kitchen scraps; sheep, rabbit, and chicken manure; shredded leaves and sticks, and other organic material. It cooks down slowly in several well-tended compost piles until it turns into a rich soil additive that is guaranteed to improve your garden's yield. Earth worms help the process along, and we will even sell some small quantities of worms for your garden or for fishing.
